In forgiving, people are not
being asked to forget.
On the contrary, it is important to
remember so that we should not let such
atrocities happen again. Forgiveness doesn not
mean condoning what has been done.
It means taking what hpappened
seriously...drawing out the sting in the momory
that threatens to poison our entire existence.

Dear Subscriber,
Greetings!
Well, I told you in the last
issue (July 22) I'd write again soon. It
certainly wasn't as soon as I'd hoped! But
things are hopping here as I'm sure they are in
your ministry setting.
There is lots to share so please keep
reading. And, if your congregation is using
Book of Faith studies for adults, please
be sure to catch my closing comments.
Enjoy! |

Worship and
education resources
 Resources commemorating the
10th anniversary of the tragedies of September 11,
2001, are available for use.
One of the synods directly affected, the
Metro D.C. Synod of the ELCA, offers an entrance rite for use on that
Sunday's worship.
Other
helpful pieces include a compilation of worship
and education resources offered by Sharon Ely
Pearson, Church Publishing Incorporated,
titled "Remembering a Time that Changed Us"
and a National Council of Churches webpage full of gathered
resources including a Service of Hope and
Remembrance, a hymn, litanies and
more. |

OK, if you've read this far, thanks! That must
mean that you're using (or have used) Book of
Faith studies with adults. Here's the big question:
would you be interested in trading your gently used
copies of leader guides and/or student books with
another congregation? (ie. We'll trade you our
Philippians for your 1 John.) If so,
let me know and I'll make the
connections.
Happy Rally Day and Back-to-School,
y'all!
God's Peace,
