Book of Faith
Since the Holy Spirit created the church, the Spirit has worked through the church to pass on faith from generation to generation. We, as the family of God, have been called to pass on faith today. One of the primary ways for any family to share their history is to remember their stories and tell them over and over again to young and old alike. Each of us is called to share the stories of God and God’s people with those who are hearing those stories for the first time and with those who have heard those stories many times. We are called to pass on faith using the stories our Christian family has to share.
In 2008, the ELCA began a five year initiative--the Book of Faith Initiative--to immerse Lutherans in intelligent conversation about the Bible in order to combat biblical illiteracy, to pass on faith, and to strengthen the church for the sake of the world. We invite you to join with us, the congregations of the NC Synod of the ELCA to explore ways to open scriptures and join the conversation!
